William P. Gavin

Personal injury attorney, William P. Gavin was born in East St. Louis, Illinois November 17, 1955. He was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1980 and the Missouri bar in 1982. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Missouri, the United States Court of Appeals Seventh and Eighth Circuits, the United Sates District Court Southern and Central Districts of Illinois, and the United States District Court Eastern District of Missouri.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts and graduated cum laude from St. Louis University in 1977. He went on to complete his Doctor of Jurisprudence and graduated cum laude from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1980. He was a member of the honorary scholastic society, Order of the Woolsack, and a staff member of the St. Louis University Law Review.

Personal injury attorney, William P. Gavin is currently a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and served as the St. Clair County Bar Association Director from1984 to 1985. In that position, he participated in the litigation of many FELA suits. Later, as a partner with the firm, he was responsible for litigating the occupational illness claims of a Class I railroad wherever those claims were made in the United States. Gavin has extensive experience in the litigation of occupational disease claims of railroad employees and has successfully litigated personal injury claims resulting from exposure to asbestos, diesel fumes, environmental tobacco smoke, benzene, welding fumes, solvents, cumulative trauma disorders, and noise.

As a result of his expertise in railroad occupational disease claims and his status as a union designated counsel, William P. Gavin has represented railroad workers in litigation in the courts of Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, California, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Iowa, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This litigation has included traumatic injury claims and occupational disease claims.

William P . Gavin frequently appears in the courts of Kentucky as co-counsel in admiralty suits.

In 2000, William P. Gavin was certified as a board certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). The NBTA is a private foundation that certifies attorneys meet certain qualifications as Civil Trial Advocates. These qualifications include litigation and trial experience, references from fellow attorneys and judges, and demonstration of knowledge of applicable law and principles.
